A family-owned Mexican restaurant recently celebrated its grand opening in Anne Arundel. This is the family’s fourth eatery in the county.
A new Mexican restaurant, Señor Chile Café, recently celebrated its grand opening in Severna Park.
The eatery is located at 594 Benfield Road. The business sits in the Benfield Village Shopping Center where Rivera’s Tex-Mex used to be.
“You are off to a fantastic start with people clamoring to enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner,” the Greater Severna Park & Arnold Chamber of Commerce said on Facebook. “Delicious food and amazing margaritas are bringing them out in droves.”
The most popular dishes at Señor Chile Café are Mexican street tacos and queso dip. Another favorite is the birria tacos, which are made from stewed meat bathed in spices. The menu also features vegetarian tacos, fajitas and enchiladas.
Murals adorn the walls, paying tribute to the Mexican Day of the Dead holiday. A neon sign shines bright orange, reading “Just Living La Vida Loca.”
A seated bar overlooks the open kitchen. The restaurant also features custom furniture from Guadalajara, Mexico.
The eatery is owned by the Salmoran family, which also runs three other locations in Anne Arundel County.
The family’s other restaurants are Mi Lindo Cancún Grill in Annapolis, Señor’s Chile in Edgewater and Señor Chile Cantina in Arnold.
“Thank you for all you do for our community and congratulations on the opening of your fourth restaurant in Anne Arundel County,” District 33C Del. Heather Bagnall said on Facebook. “We wish you much happiness and many more years of success!”
The Severna Park eatery is owned and operated by a 19-year-old in the family. He has been saving money since he was 13 to join the family business, District 5 County Council Member Amanda Fiedler said.
“Congratulations to Señor Chile Cafe on your Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting,” Fiedler wrote on Facebook. “Severna Park is excited to have you as a great addition to restaurant offerings in the area!”
Señor Chile Café hosted its grand opening on Jan. 13. The establishment held its soft opening on Dec. 21, 2022, and it has been open ever since.
