Both journalists have a reserved space with their respective photographs and credentials to remember and honor them for all the contributions they made to sports journalism during their lives.
The facility is 1,575-square meters and features a lounge, more than 360 job sites, food trucks and massage services, among others.
The doors of the Main Press Center (MPC) are officially open. This Monday at 9 a.m., the facility was opened for the more than 1,700 professionals from around the world who are accredited to the Pan American Games and will cover all of the excitement at Santiago 2023.
The Main Press Center is a 1,575-square meter facility constructed just meters from the National Stadium Coliseum and next to the International Broadcasting Center (IBC). It has a lounge specially designed for the press; five offices, including Canon, which will have a technical service inside; three food trucks with food service at very affordable prices; 27 LED screens where the competitions will be shown live; one video wall for the press conference stage, massage services, 2 gigabytes of internet connection and an activation of RedBull as a sponsor of the event.
“We know the importance of the media in these events. For this reason, we have taken care of all the details to receive the national and foreign press. We have a record of 1,700 accredited media and we want the experience of attending the Games to be the most rewarding it can be for all of them,” said Santiago 2023 Press Operations Manager, Romulo Macedo.
Among the 366 job sites are two reserved as a tribute to those who are remembered as two of the greatest Chilean journalists in history: Julio Martinez Pradanos and Sergio Livingstone Pohlhammer.
An LED screen with a video of them, two typewriters, two framed photographs, lamps, a notebook, headphones and even an old camera decorate the tribute.
“As Santiago 2023 Press Operations, we believed it was very necessary to be able to honor two greats of Chilean sports journalism in this place that will host a record of 1,700 accredited professionals. They demonstrated their greatness, professionalism and passion for sport for many years and we are sure that they are watching us from heaven and are very happy to see Chile host its first Pan American Games in history,” added Valeria Clavijo, MPC Manager of Santiago 2023.
The MPC is now open and will operate between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. in the final days leading up to the Games. Beginning on October 16, the MPC will be operational between 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. every day.
