CES 2026 showcases ‘physical AI,’ new chips, robotics, and a fresh push toward autonomous vehicles
At CES 2026 in Las Vegas, Nvidia, AMD, and Intel unveiled major AI and chip announcements while robotics and self-driving vehicle concepts drew heavy attention across the show floor.

CES 2026 opened in Las Vegas with artificial intelligence threaded through nearly every product pitch, but the loudest signals came from chipmakers and robotics demonstrations that framed AI as something increasingly embodied in machines, vehicles, and everyday consumer devices.

Nvidia emphasized what it calls “physical AI,” describing models trained in virtual environments on synthetic data and then deployed into real-world systems. The company highlighted new AI model initiatives and positioned them as building blocks for robots and autonomous systems that must understand and operate under real-world physics constraints.
AMD used the show to expand its lineup of Ryzen AI processors and also spotlighted a new gaming-focused chip, signaling that the AI competition is not confined to data centers and cloud platforms. Instead, the battle is increasingly moving into personal computers and consumer hardware where features can be marketed directly to buyers.
Intel also pointed to new chip and platform efforts, while the show as a whole underscored an industrial policy undercurrent: strengthening U.S. technology manufacturing capacity and aligning next-generation hardware production with national economic goals.
Outside of chips, transportation tech drew attention. Uber presented a robotaxi concept with partners and focused heavily on the in-cabin experience, an area companies increasingly see as crucial for consumer trust and differentiation as autonomous driving moves from prototypes to services.
Robotics remained a crowd magnet, from humanoid demonstrations to consumer-oriented home-assistant concepts. CES 2026 made clear that AI is no longer just a software story: it is a hardware story, a mobility story, and a product-design story, with companies racing to prove that AI features can translate into tangible devices people will actually use.
